The Top Security Companies in Texas

Our team took a look at more than 100 security companies throughout Texas to see which one provided the highest overall quality. We evaluated each home security provider by these quantitative and qualitative criteria:

  • Average Customer Reviews (25%): Customer experiences are the true measuring sticks of a security company’s effectiveness. For this reason, we used sources like Google Reviews to see what customers were saying about these home security services. Using the average score, we determined which company had the best reputation in Texas communities.
  • Security Device Availability Score (25%): Many security providers in Texas don’t provide all of the types of cameras, sensors, or alarm types to create a truly secure environment. For this criterion, we looked at the sheer number of potential security devices each provider has available for customers.
    • Home Automation Quality and Availability (25%): A well-installed home automation system will overlap significantly with a home security system. For this reason, we evaluated the home automation installation type for each company. This looked at the home automation standard, installation process, and device availability.
    • Uninterrupted Footage During Outages (10%): Power outages happen, especially in the more humid and rainy areas of the state. For this criterion, we evaluated how reactive each security system was to sudden power outages and how well footage was taken during these events.
  • Security Monitoring (15%): The best security companies will also have security monitoring services for their customers. For this criterion, we evaluated the number of security monitoring stations each provider had and whether the provider outsourced or kept security monitoring in-house.

Security Device Availability Score: 5 out of 5

Home Automation Quality and Availability: Z-Wave home automation

Uninterrupted Footage During Outages: Both Internet and Power Outage Protection

Security Monitoring: Multiple monitoring stations, in-house

Militia Protection is our #1 security company in Texas thanks to its unique business model. As a result, Miltia offers a wide array of security devices and techniques and customizes every security installation to each customer’s unique needs.

They even have in-house monitoring, which is rare in the security industry. Militia uses cell and internet for their alarm systems so that outages are no problem. They also use Z-Wave as a home automation system, which is much more secure than other standards, while also featuring better range and penetration.

Ring Alarm

Average Customer Reviews: 4.7

Security Device Availability Score: 4.5 out of 5

Uninterrupted Footage During Outages: Power backup, internet continuity with Ring Alarm Pro and Protect Pro plan

Security Monitoring: Outsourced (via Rapid Response Monitoring Services)

One of the better features of Ring Alarm is its home automation, which uses a hybrid mix of  Z-Wave and Wi-Fi standards. This provides easy functionality for customers looking for convenience. They also have a high number of home security devices, which is beneficial for customers looking for a capable installer. Unfortunately, they outsource their security monitoring.

Summary of Online Reviews

Security Device Availability Score: 3.9 out of 5

Home Automation Quality and Availability: LTE/Wi-Fi home automation

Uninterrupted Footage During Outages: Power – internet continuity depends on the camera type

Security Monitoring: Single outsourced
